CAN Bus DDE 4.0

Data exchange between the following control units takes place via the CAN bus:

• DDE control unit
  
• Automatic transmission control unit (EGS)
  
• Instrument cluster control unit
  
• ABS/ASC control unit
  

Troubleshooting

Following faults are recognized concerning the CAN bus:

• Fault code 0600, "DDE control unit (CAN controller)"
  This refers to a hardware fault in DDE control unit. The affected values are replaced by substitute values.
  
• Fault code 1E00, "CAN-bus"
  Set in the case of faults in communication with the instrument cluster control unit, the ABS/ASC control unit or the EGS.
  Consequence: The functions whose messages are affected by failure of the CAN-bus fail, e.g. ASC and engine drag torque control.
