Pedal Position Sensor DDE 4.0

The DDE control unit is informed of the position of the accelerator pedal by means of electrical signals generated by the pedal position sensor. The pedal position sensor is mounted on the support bracket for the accelerator pedal and is operated by means of a short bowden cable and pulley.

Function

The pedal position sensor is designed as a double potentiometer and features three connection pins per potentiometer.

The potentiometers which receive a 5 V voltage and ground supply from the DDE control unit send measurement voltages back to the DDE control unit corresponding to the angle of rotation (range = 0° ... 70°). This control unit evaluates the measurement voltage and converts the voltage value into pedal position sensor setting as a percentage.

Idle speed and full throttle position

The idle and full throttle positions are detected by way of the voltages of the pedal position sensor.

Troubleshooting

The pedal position sensor is found to be defective if:
