DME main relay

DME main relay

The relay is driven by the DME control unit.

Function of main relay:

Voltage supply to all components in the engine electrical/electronic system

Possible effects: - Engine does not run

Diagnosis note

The fault codes below can be entered in any combination in the DME fault code memory if the system voltage was too low due to battery discharge or due to failure or contact fault of the DME main relay.

If fault code (036) 24 - main relay is stored in the DME, all fault code entries listed below that were stored at the same km reading (mileage) are to be ignored and deleted. The DME control unit should on no account be replaced.

Possible consequential fault codes of the main relay fault (036) 24:

(019) 13 - Activation, VANOS solenoid valve, outlet

(021) 15 - Activation, VANOS solenoid valve, inlet

(027) 1B - Activation, idle actuator/closing coil

(053) 35 - Activation, idle actuator/opening coil

(068) 44 - Activation, solenoid valve, fuel tank ventilation

(069) 45 - Activation, electronic fuel pump

(110) 6E - Signal, pedal position sensor 1

(112) 70 - Signal, throttle position sensor, potentiometer 1

(115) 73 - Reference voltage, voltage regulator 1

(123) 7B - Activation, characteristic map cooling

(124) 7C - Activation, intake pipe solenoid valve (DISA)

(217) D9 - Signal, CAN EGS
