Service function

The procedures must be followed when working on the hydraulic system:

When work is performed on the hydraulic system, the hydraulic pump relay K5360 must be disconnected to prevent inadvertent starting of the hydraulic pump. The pump must not run dry.

As soon as the door is opened, the SMG control unit activates the relay of the hydraulic pump at an accumulator pressure below approx. 55 bar.

Do not reconnect the hydraulic pump relay K5360 for the entire duration of the repair.

The instruction with regard to reconnecting the hydraulic pump relay K5360 comes in the service function ”bleeding”.

Procedure for filling the hydraulic system:

• 1. Ignition off (terminal 15), pull out hydraulic pump relay K5360
  2. Replace defective component
  3. Fill hydraulic oil (Pentosin) up to the target filling level
  4. Ignition on (terminal 15)
  5. Start service functions ”bleeding” according to inspection plan. Only connect hydraulic pump relay K5360 when instructed to do so.
  

This approach is particularly important if there is no or too little hydraulic fluid (Pentosin) in the hydraulic unit.

The hydraulic pump relay is located in the E box.

The Pentosin expansion tank is located directly at the collector.
