The shiftlock function enables blocking of the selector lever in position N to prevent inadvertent gearshifts.
The shiftlock function is implemented by means of an electromagnetic switch in the selector lever. If the solenoid is de-energized, the selector lever is blocked. The solenoid is activated by the SMG control unit. The switching voltage corresponds approximately to the battery voltage.
The nominal coil resistance is approx. 16 Ohm. Depending on the battery voltage and temperature, the shiftlock solenoid requires between 0.43 and 1.33 A.
