Seat adjustment
Manual adjustment of drives
The adjustment switches in the switch block are used for manual seat adjustment. The adjustment switch (with integrated control unit) is located on the sides of the seats facing the door.
The following adjustments can be made with these switches:
- Seat fore/aft adjustment
- Seat height adjustment
- Seat angle adjustment
- Seat backrest adjustment
- Backrest head adjustment (for comfort seat only)
- Head restraint height adjustment (on comfort seat only)
Programming a memory position
- The ignition lock must be in position 1 or 2.
- Press memory button on memory switch. Programming readiness is indicated by the memory button lighting up.
- Press one of the 3 position buttons to store the current seat position.
- The indicator lamp goes out after the position button is pressed.
- Program readiness status is cancelled if no position button is pressed within 7 s. The position button goes out.
Retrieval of a memory position
A differentiation is made between two operating modes when stored seat positions are retrieved:
- Single-strike mode:
In single-strike mode, it is enough to briefly press one of the 3 position buttons to start the positioning procedure. Positioning runs automatically until the target position is reached.
Single strike mode is effective when the driver's door is opened and the ignition lock is in position 0 or 1.
The ignition lock must be in position 1 when the driver's door is closed.
- Press-and-hold mode:
In order to call up a seat position, the corresponding position button must be pressed and held to maintain the positioning procedure. If the button is released before the target position is reached, the corresponding drive is switched off immediately. The positioning procedure is continued when the position button is pressed again. If another position button is pressed, the positioning procedure for the new position is started.
Press-and-hold mode is effective when the driver's door is opened and the ignition lock is in position 2.
And with the ignition lock in position 0 or 2 with the driver's door closed.
Detection of end stops
Automatic detection of the adjustment range limits is provided to avoid unnecessary load on the drives.
Should a block be detected several times in the same position, the detected position value is interpreted as the end stop. Any further adjustment is terminated before this limit is reached.
An incorrectly detected limit stop (e.g. due to the seat blocking on objects) can be reset, after the obstruction is removed, by pressing the manual adjustment switch once more.
Steering column adjustment
Manual adjustment of drives
A switch is provided on the left of the steering column for manual adjustment.
The following adjustments can be made with this switch:
The steering column can be operated independent of the seat adjustment.
Easy entry/exit
To facilitate entry, the easy entry function ensures the steering column tilts up and moves forward when the key is removed. The longitudinal adjustment can be deactivated by coding.
Adjustment motors (actuators) with ripple counter
Adjustment motors with ripple count modules are used for adjusting the steering column and backrest head. This module contains the electronic circuitry for activating the motors as well as the electronic circuitry for recording the motor speed and motor position. Each RC module can therefore independently switch on its motor and move to a defined position. The connection between the seat control unit and the RC modules is made by a data cable.
Adjustment motors (actuators) with Hall-effect sensors
Adjustment motors with Hall-effect sensors for recording the motor position are used for adjusting the seat fore and aft position, seat height, seat angle, backrest and head restraint.
