The rear backrest adjustment facility (rear backrest adjustment) enables electrical adjustment of the rear seat backrests. Adjustment can take place both from the rear seat as well as from the luggage compartment.
The rear seat backrest is of a two-piece design (1/3 to 2/3). Individual electrical adjustment is possible for both halves of the backrest.
Two operating switches that facilitate adjustment of the rear seat backrests are located in the centre of the vehicle headlining (in the plastic unit with the interior lights). However, the seat backrests can only be adjusted when the child safety lock for the rear window regulators (in the driver's door module) is switched off (green LED in the child safety lock switch is not lit).
Seat backrest adjustment is possible as from ignition lock position 1 (terminal R on). In the same way as for the power windows, the function is switched off after ”terminal R OFF” country-specific when the driver's or passenger's door is opened or one of the front door is opened/closed.
The switch-on and switch-off conditions are controlled by means of the central body electronics control module and relay K135.
Two switches are fitted on the left and right on the luggage compartment to facilitate adjustment of the rear seat backrests also when terminal R is switched off. The backrests can be adjusted with these switches irrespective of the status of the child safety lock. The function is not deactivated after ”terminal R OFF”.
