The camshaft sensor registers the position of the camshaft and is designed as a Hall-effect sensor. A separate sensor is used for the inlet camshaft and exhaust camshaft.
It is necessary for the fully sequential injection system (fuel injection takes place individually for each cylinder at the specific firing point). In the event of a fault in the camshaft sensor, the crankshaft sensor is used for the purpose of maintaining emergency operation.
