Overview of functions

The throttle valves are operated for each bank via a throttle-valve actuator. Communication between the DME and throttle-valve actuator runs across a separate Local CAN. In addition, there is a so-called Enable line (S_DK1/S_DK2) between the DME and throttle-valve actuator. Across this Enable line, the DME can switch off the throttle-valve actuator if there are communication faults on the Local CAN.

Pin 4 on the throttle-valve actuator of bank 1 is switched to earth. This makes it possible to detect which throttle-valve actuator is fitted on which bank.

Throttle-valve sensors

A throttle-valve sensor is fitted to the throttle valve bearing shaft of each bank. Two Hall sensors are integrated in each sensor. One Hall sensor is directly connected to the throttle-valve actuator; the other Hall sensor is directly connected to the DME.
