Vehicle centre satellite safety system

The vehicle centre satellite (SFZ) measures the longitudinal and transverse acceleration forces on the vehicle in a crash. The longitudinal and lateral acceleration data is used as the input data for a large number of safety system functions.

Brief description of components

Vehicle centre satellite (SFZ)

The vehicle centre satellite (SFZ) is located in the centre of the vehicle (below the centre console control centre module).

The SFZ has an integral acceleration sensor. This is a two-dimension acceleration sensor which measures the acceleration in the event of a crash in

The acceleration sensor is attached directly to the SFZ circuit board. The SFZ processes the measured data and passes the information on to the BYTEFLIGHT bus.

Notes on safety

In all cases, only perform work on the fuel pump with the ignition off!

All work on the airbags must be carried out with the battery disconnected!

Connect and disconnect all BYTEFLIGHT control units, sensors and generators only with the battery disconnected!

If a fibre-optic cable on the BYTEFLIGHT bus has to be repaired, it must be borne in mind that there may only be one join in a fibre-optic cable. If there is already a join due to a door connector, the fibre-optic cable must not be repaired. In the case of a defect, the fibre-optic cable must be replaced!
