Starter-motor disablement

Starter-motor disablement

The starter interlock provides the Clean Energy control unit (CESG) the possibility to fully prevent the engine start if critical states on the part of the CESG are determined, and these make it apparent that a start makes no sense or that an engine start can have dangerous effects.

The starter interlock is connected to the starter (terminal 50L) and is controlled by the CESG across a four-pin cable connection. The component is also connected via the integrated supply module (IVM) with the Car Access (CAS) control unit.

The starter interlock also has an influence on refuelling with hydrogen: the starter interlock is only opened and the current loop within the CESG is closed to enable refuelling after an internal plausibility check by the CESG indicates that refuelling has been approved. (It is only after the external feed of current into the current loop that the CESG can open the valves for refuelling.)

The component is monitored for diagnosis.
