There is separate radio monitoring for BMW Hydrogen 7 hydrogen vehicles. This is implemented using the GSM communication standard. This means that data can be sent across the regular mobile telephone network per SMS to the BMW internal central office. To achieve this, the Moviline communication module is required.
These SMS messages are sent both while the vehicle is being driven and when the vehicle is parked. The Moviline module is wakened by the Clean Energy control unit (CESG) across a serial RS232 interface if transmission is required. Once the Moviline module has sent data, it goes back to sleep automatically. The wakeup operation takes place across separate lines by means of the electrical signal OUT_ML. This signal switches on the communication module.
The Moviline module is connected to the CESG by a four-pin cable connection.
