Sound output
There is a choice of 3 audio (speaker) systems for sound output. They differ by virtue of the number and type of speakers fitted.
Brief description of components
Stereo and HiFi systems
The Stereo and HiFi systems consist of:
- 2 High/mid-range speakers in the front doors (directed at the opposite front-seat occupant in each case)
- 2 high/mid-range speakers in the rear parcel shelf
- 2 sub-woofers fitted under the driver's seat and front-passenger seat. The subwoofers are driven by the subwoofer amplifier (power output stage only).
Top Hi-Fi system
The Top HiFi system has the same number of speakers in the locations used for the active Hi-Fi system, but they are of a higher quality. In addition, it also includes
- 2 High/mid-range speakers in the front doors (directed at the opposite front-seat occupant in each case)
- 2 high/mid-range speakers in the rear parcel shelf
- 2 High/mid-range speakers in the rear doors powered by the Top Hi-Fi amplifier
- 1 central speaker on the top of the dashboard under the windscreen
- 2 subwoofers fitted under the driver's seat and front-passenger seat. The subwoofers are driven by the Top Hi-Fi amplifier.
- Top HiFi amplifier with many supplementary functions
Main functions
Radio/TV mute function
The ”mute” function turns off the radio/TV sound. The mute function is activated by receipt of
- telephone calls
- navigation system announcements
- traffic news bulletins
If a traffic news bulletin is received when the tadio/TV has been muted, the radio/TV is not demuted. The traffic bulletin is suppressed.
Entertainment/Infotainment audio output
With entertainment output, the audio signals are sent to all speakers. For infotainment output, the audio signals are only sent to the front left, front right, rear left and rear right speakers.
Note for service department:
With the Top HiFi option, infotainment output may still be possible when there is a fault on the Top HiFi amplifier. Entertainment output wil nevertheless not function properly.
