RGB and composite colour picture output signals (video)

The signals required for different use are generated in the video module. The use of the generated output signals is dependent on whether the optional extra Navigation is fitted.

Brief description of components

Video module

In the video module, the HF signals supplied by the aerial amplifiers are conditioned and converted to the LF level for further processing. The following are generated:

Information is also transmitted by the video module on the MOST bus.

The video-module outputs are monitored by fault memories.

Control Display (CD) and Controller

Control Display: With a few exceptions, the Control Display (CD) incorporates the controls and display elements for the body electronics. The Control Display coordinates the function requests from the system and assigns them to the relevant functions.

Controller: The Control Display is operated by means of the Controller located on the front centre armrest.

MOST bus

The MOST bus (Media Oriented Systems Transport) links the audio, video and navigation systems. Information relating to function requests is transmitted to the relevant control units by means of MOST bus messages.

Main functions

Depending on the optional extra fitted, the control units involved in the function have different tasks.

Example: Video function without optional extra Navigation:

The TV requests pass directly from the control display to the video module. The video module implements these requests and places the audio LF on the MOST bus.

Example: Video function (video module or DVD player) with optional extra Navigation:

TV is requested via the control display. The control display sends a telegram for video module and navigation, which results in different actions. The navigation system switches the video channel internally. The video module switches its received and conditioned signals to the navigation system. The navigation system converts the composite colour video signals into RGB signals and forwards them to the control display. The video module places the audio data on the MOST bus.

Example: Video function with optional extra Navigation, TV and DVD player:

The TV request functions like the video function with optional extra Navigation. The DVD function functions in the same way. The control display sends a telegram for the DVD player, the video module and navigation, which results in different actions. The video module and the navigation system switch the video channel internally. The DVD player places the audio LF on the MOST bus and it video data on the composite colour picture output. The navigation system converts the composite colour video signals into RGB signals and forwards them to the control display.
