The front passenger's airbags can be deactivated using the airbag switch. Deactivation of the front passenger's airbags is also indicated by an indicator lamp. Responsibility for deactivation/activation now lies in the hands of the customer.
The airbag switch can only be activated/deactivated by means of the ignition key when the vehicle is stationary and the door is open.
The airbag switch
The indicator lamp is activated by the Safety and Information Module. The indicator lamp is activated when the state ”Passenger Airbag OFF” is set by the airbag switch. The indicator lamp is diagnosed and monitored. If a fault in the power supply or lamp is determined, a fault code memory entry is made in the Safety and Information Module and the airbag warning lamp is activated!
The passenger's airbag deactivation switch, a two-wire Hall switch, is monitored by the Safety and Information Module. In the event of a fault, a fault code memory entry is entered.
The passenger's airbag deactivation switch is supplied with clocked voltage by the Safety and Information Module. The following shows the voltage curve that is measured at the Safety and Information Module when the voltage curve is OK. For the voltage measurement, the adapter lead must not be connected to the passenger's airbag deactivation switch!

All work on the airbags must be carried out with the battery disconnected!
Connect and disconnect all BYTEFLIGHT control units, sensors and generators only with the battery disconnected!
If a fibre-optic cable on the BYTEFLIGHT bus has to be repaired, it must be borne in mind that there may only be one join in a fibre-optic cable. If there is already a join due to a door connector, the fibre-optic cable must not be repaired. In the case of a defect, the fibre-optic cable must be replaced!
