CAN Bus DDE 5.0

Data exchange between the following control units takes place via the CAN bus:

• DDE control unit
  
• Automatic transmission control unit (EGS)
  
• Instrument cluster control unit
  
• ABS/DSC control unit
  
• Steering angle sensor
  

Troubleshooting

The DDE control unit monitors communication via the CAN bus for defective and missing messages.

The message monitoring faults can be caused by the following problems:

• CAN bus cable fault
  
• No signal(s) from transmitting control unit (sensor fault)
  
• Transmitting control unit defective
  

The following CAN bus faults of the DDE 5.0 are hardware faults:

• 4910, CAN bus Off
  
• 4912, CAN bus hardware defect in operation
  
• 4913, CAN bus hardware defective on initialization
