The position sensors are designed as Hall sensors.
The position sensors of the selector shaft are fitted on the top side of the modified rear case section.
The selected gearshift gate is detected via the selector angle sensor. Four gearshift gates are possible: gearshift gate R for reverse gear, the gearshift gate for first and second gear, the gearshift gate for the third and fourth gear, as well as the gearshift gate for the fifth gear.
The current gearbox position is detected via the gearshift travel sensor in conjunction with the selector angle sensor.
The position sensors are supplied with power via the sensor-supply voltage (5 V) generated in the SMG control unit. Each position signal goes across a signal wire to the SMG control unit.
