Brief description of components
The SZL (steering column switching centre) consists of the following components:
- Electronic evaluation unit The signals of the components are evaluated in the electronic evaluation unit and output as a CAN message via the F-CAN. The electronic evaluation unit is installed on a board.
- Steering-angle sensor The steering-angle sensor uses a code disc to optically sense the steering angle applied to the steering wheel. The data is read in and calculated by the electronic evaluation unit. The data is sent directly to the DSC control unit.
- Steering column lever Lever positions of all steering column levers are determined optically. Pressing the buttons and turning or touching the knurled wheels are sensed via switch mats.
- Buffer spring cassette The buffer spring cassette has the task of transferring electrical signals from or to the steering wheel.
The SZL (steering column switching centre) has no fault code memory of its own. All the fault data of the SZL is stored in the DSC control unit.
