Grating noise in seal between door gap and roof

Repair instruction for 'grating noise at the seal of door gap to roof'

Cause

Flock velour at the door gap seal stuck by final coat of paint at door aperture.

Repair instruction

  1. Remove the adhesive tape from the previous check at the door aperture.
  2. Correct the door alignment. To do so, place a 0.5 mm shim at the upper door hinge to incline the top of the door outwards. Check the gap to the side panel; if required, correct at the join to the engine compartment lid.
  3. Clean the contact surface of the door gap seal with silicone remover.
  4. Clean the flock velour at the door gap seal with silicone remover; brush out and allow to air. Repeat the operation 2 - 3 times. See Fig. 1.
  5. If the flock velour can no longer be cleaned, the relevant seal must be replaced.
