Repair instruction for grating noise in the steering column panelling

Complaint

Grating noises in certain driving situations and steering column positions. The noise occurs in the narrow point between the top trim of steering column and the gap cover of the steering column.

Cause

Gap cover of steering column.

Repair instruction

Stick 2 felt strips (BMW part number 65 77 1 377 052) onto the steering column panelling. See Fig. 1.

(A) The felt strips must have approx. the dimensions 30 mm x 40 mm x 1 mm.

(B) Stick the felt strips in the radius area.
