Replacing the ARS control module
As of September 2003, the developed DYNAMIC DRIVE (ARS) control module from the 5 Series E60 will be fitted in the 7 Series E65. As of this date, only DYNAMIC DRIVE (ARS) control modules of the E60 will be delivered as spare parts.
On replacement, observe the following:
- The connector pins 9 and 10 are set to ground in the new DYNAMIC DRIVE (ARS) control module. Pins 21 and 22 are not used.
- With the new DYNAMIC DRIVE (ARS) control module, pins 9 and 10 may no longer be connected to the wiring harness.
- The wiring harness that was fitted up to 12.04.2002 still has the four wheel speed impulses on these two pins. For this reason, when the new DYNAMIC DRIVE (ARS) control module is fitted with this wiring harness, the four signal cables must be removed from the pins of the ARS connector.
The following work must be performed on replacement:
- Unpin the four wheel speed cables, pins 9, 10, 21, 22, from the ARS connector.
- Tie back the 4 cables and insulate them. See corresponding repair instructions: ”Removing and installing the DYNAMIC DRIVE (ARS) control module”
If the connector is not unpinned, the wheel-speed signals generated by the DSC control module are disrupted. The following faults are stored in the DME and CAS systems:
