Seat heating, rear left and right

The seat heating regulates the heat output according to what the user has specified.

Brief description of components

Control module

The control module regulates the heat output

The control module contains a self test routine for diagnostic purposes. Occurring faults are recorded and can be output by means of a flashing code. The installation position is behind the backrest of the rear bench seat.

Control buttons and display elements

The control buttons are connected via the vehicle wiring harness.

The function LEDs are activated by the control module.

The switch blocks are fitted in the center console to the rear left and right.

Seat heating elements

The seat heating elements are resistor pads.

Each seat contains a mat for seat cushion and backrest

Temperature sensors for seat heating

Each seat is fitted with an NTC sensor for recording the temperature.

The sensor is located in the heater element of the seat cushion.

Main functions

Operation

The desired setpoint temperature can be specified by the user by operating the control button.

After terminal 15 has been switched on, heating stage 3 can be activated by pressing the control button once. In Stage 3, the highest setpoint temperature value is selected. By pressing the button once more, heating stage 2 is activated (middle setpoint temperature value). By pressing the button once more, heating stage 1 is activated with the lowest setpoint temperature value. Pressing once more switches the seat heating off.

The LEDs are activated according to the heating stages.

In addition, the seat heating can be deactivated by pressing the button for longer than 1.2 seconds.

Heating

The seat heating operates in cycles depending on the power requirement.

Under-voltage

If the voltage supply of the control module drops below 11.4 V, the seat heating is switched off. The setting of the seat heating is retained. The heating is switched on again as a voltage of 12.4 V. During the under-voltage, operation is possible. The function indicator is retained.

Over-voltage

At a voltage supply over 16.5 V, the heating and display functions are switched off. When the voltage reaches the normal functional range (12.2 V - 16.2 V), no heating and display functions are activated automatically.

Diagnosis

The control module contains a self test routine for diagnostic purposes.
