Secondary air system, S54 engine

In the test module, the secondary air system is activated for a cycle for the purpose of the function check. For successful activation, the following must be ensured:

• The engine is at a standstill
  
• The temperature difference between the engine and coolant is around 30 degrees Celsius
  
• Approx. 10 minutes have elapsed since the last activation
  

The secondaray air pump is fitted on the right in direction of travel in the engine compartment; with electrical operation it delivers fresh air into the exhaust port of the S54 engine, leading to post-combustion (oxidation) of the emissions. The secondary air valve is located on the right in the direction of travel in the lower engine compartment and is connected to the secondaray air pump across a hose line.

Note:

If fault 2A00 is entered, the cause can be a damaged or disconnected air supply line. Check the hose line between the pump and valve for leaks and correct seating!
