Damage on the wiring harness for retractable hardtop

Repair instruction for damage to the wiring harness of the retractable hardtop

If a fault code memory entry is set due to a short circuit, check the wiring harness in the following areas.

1. Wiring harness damaged in the area of the 'roof shells partially opened' Hall sensor

Check whether the connector for the 'roof shells partially opened' Hall sensor has been fitted in the correct position. If the connector has been fitted incorrectly, check the wiring harness for damage in the area of the connector. See Fig. 1. After repair, fix the connector to the side of the hydraulic cylinder. See Fig. 2.

Fix the connector and 'roof shells partially opened' Hall sensor to the side of the cylinder.

2. Wiring harness damaged at the linkage of the hardtop

Only for vehicles manufactured up to production week 24/2007.

In Fig. 1, the wiring harness has slipped to a position in which damage can occur. After repairing the wiring harness, make sure that the wiring harness is fixed down with cable ties.

Fig. 2 shows the wiring harness as it is fitted as of production week 24/2007.

The wiring harness can be damaged in the area (1).

After repairing the wiring harness, fix it down with cable ties in the direction of the arrow.
Try to fix the wiring harness in the same position as in vehicles as of production week 24/2007. See Fig. 2.

In vehicles as of production week 24/2007, the wiring harness is fixed in place with a clip.
